July 31, 2012KUALA LUMPUR (JULY 30, 2012): It was a dream come true for ten underprivileged kids from Harvest Centre’s Dignity for Children Foundation when they rubbed shoulders with some of Manchester City’s superstars during a Meet n’ Greet session at the Palace of the Golden Horses here today.
The children, from the ages of seven to ten, smiled ear-to-ear as their faces lit up with excitement when they met football celebrities Sergio “Kun” Aguero, Kolo Toure and Pablo Zabaleta.
Popular DJ Lil’ Kev made it possible for the youngsters after getting the green light from Julian Kam, who is the CEO of ProEvents Group – the exclusive organiser of Manchester City Far East Tour 2012.
“I wasn’t harbouring any high hope but when I pitched the idea of giving a chance for underprivileged kids to meet the players to Julian, he said yes without hesitation.”
“The lads were thrilled to have taken pictures with their favourite players and their Manchester City jerseys autographed by them. Such was their excitement that it eventually drained the kids out. These little fellows are normally quite hyper but they were sound asleep on the way back from the hotel, while hugging their signed souvenirs from the club,” said 41-year-old Lil’ Kev, whose real name is Kevin Arokiasamy.
This was the second such trip for the unfortunate which had been initiated by Lil’ Kev. ProEvents had earlier also invited other young ones from the Divine Mercy Boys’ Home for the Arsenal Meet n’ Greet session where the group had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the likes of Theo Walcott, Mikel Arteta, Gervinho and Alex Song at The Saujana Hotel on July 23.
“ProEvents has given the boys an invaluable experience which they will never forget for the rest of their lives. They just can’t stop talking about it and can’t resist themselves from saying things like how they want to be like Aguero and (Carlos) Tevez when they grow up. It’s very endearing and I doubt they are going to stop talking about it anytime soon!” Lil’ Kev joked.
