September 3, 2020SEPANG (5 AUGUST 2020): It is what dreams are made of. Behind the wheel of a monstrous Formula Renault with a Tatuus chassis and 2.0 L Renault Clio engine, reigning eRacing Grand Prix SEA Champion, Mior Muhammad Hafiz had a devilish time at the Sepang International Circuit open track day yesterday.
Despite winning the inaugural regional eRacing tournament back in September last year, Mior was made to wait for his reward due to the global COVID-19 pandemic which halted all sporting events – both professional and recreational in the country.
It was only last month that Sepang International Circuit decided to resume operations for both private and open test runs, much to Mior’s delight.
The 32-year old was over the moon with his long-awaited prize for his title triumph as he got his first taste of the Formula Renault machinery courtesy of Axle Motorsport and their collaboration with Hong Kong-based Formula 3 Asian Champions, Black Arts Racing.
“It was personally a surreal experience to be able to test the Formula Renault here today, definitely a dream come true. All of this wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for Axle Motorsport, especially Mr. Alex Yoong and Black Arts Racing and I thank them for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Mior.
“I would also like to thank our valued sponsors – Maybank, JD Sport and UMobile for their undying support throughout. Their backings truly spur me on to achieve greater heights,” he added.
Meanwhile, Executive Director of Axle Motorsport, Alex Yoong had only good things to say about the Kuala Lumpur-born Mior.
“It is indeed an honour to watch Mior make great strides and I hope he enjoyed himself today – he really deserves this big break. We at Axle Motorsport are proud to have provided him with the opportunity to test drive the Formula Renault under the professional guidance of our friends at Black Arts Racing.
“This is what Axle Motorsport is all about. Apart from providing the platform to discover uncut gems and develop potential drivers, we also reward drivers for all the hard work and dedication that they’ve put in,” said Alex.
