April 23, 2015MALACCA (20 APRIL 2015): Melaka United Soccer Association (MUSA) and Frenz United Football Club signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today which will see greater dedication towards the improvements in the standards of the game in the state.
The signing ceremony was graced by the Chief Minister of Malacca, Datuk Seri Idris Haron who is also President of Melaka United Soccer Association, and Frenz United FC President, Dato’ Noor Ihsan Abdul Hamid.
It was witnessed by top level management representatives from both clubs including Melaka United SA Deputy President Datuk Yusoff Mahadi who is also chairman of the Board of Directors, Melaka Stadium Corporation.
The MoU, which paves the way for a fruitful relationship between the two parties, ensures Frenz United FC to be based in Malacca and the famous Hang Tuah Stadium or commonly known as ‘Stadium Kubu’ will be the home ground for FUFC.
Frenz United’s Asia two premier tournaments – Asia Champions Trophy (ACT) and Frenz International Cup (FIC) will also be held in Malacca on a yearly basis.
Commenting on the agreement with MUSA, Datuk Seri Idris Haron said: “We are very delighted that this Memorandum of Understanding is bringing together key stakeholders of the football family. Melaka State Government firmly believes that Melaka’s Status as one of the attractive tourism destinations will further improve with this partnership.”
“It is an honour for Malacca to host these elite international football tournaments for the first time. We have world-class facilities and organisational abilities which gives Frenz United FC the confidence in bringing their tournaments here,” he said, adding that the most important aspect of this deal is developing the game at the grassroots level.
Frenz United FC President, Dato’ Noor Ihsan, said: “Today marks an important milestone in the history of FUFC as we are very excited that this MoU seals the platform for greater cooperation, establishing reciprocal exchanges of information and expertise aimed at promoting the development of football in Malacca.”
He added that Frenz United Football Club was established to provide the opportunity for 18 year-old players who graduated from its Academy in Janda Baik, Pahang to further their football-playing career.
“There are a total of 24 international clubs from across Asia, Europe and South Africa competing in the ACT and FIC tournaments yearly. The participation of these clubs will boost the tourism industry in Malacca. We also have plans to improve the game at school level by introducing coaching clinics,” said Dato’ Noor Ihsan.
The Frenz U18 International Cup 2015 was jointly hosted by Malaysia and Indonesia. The preliminary rounds were held in Kuala Lumpur and the city of Palembang with participation of 16 clubs from around the globe.
