PETALING JAYA (22 MARCH 2014): Brabus United edged Dani Football Club 16-13 to end a two-month journey in the PUMA evoPOWER Futsal Tournament on a victorious note to emerge champions in grand fashion at Piazza e@Curve today.
Watched by an estimated 600 shoppers and fans at the Mall, Brabus United, who had earlier defeated Ampang Unity FC 5-4 on penalties in the semi-finals, led 9-1 at the interval, scoring four two-pointer goals while Dani FC replied with a single–pointer goal. Dani FC, however, clawed back in a thrilling second–half encounter to close the gap but failed to turn the tables on their superior opponent due to poor finishing.
It was a proud moment for Brabus United captain Mohammad Hafiz Roslan as he received the champion’s trophy from PUMA Malaysia Senior Marketing Executive Tim Tham. The champions also took home RM5,000 in cash and another RM5,000 worth of PUMA products
Points scored are measured by the speed the ball travels into goal. One point is awarded for a speed of 1-50km an hour, two points awarded should the ball travel at a speed of 51-89km while three-points if the ball travels above 90km an hour.
Unity Ampang FC knocked home one three-pointer and four two-pointer goals to edge Orange 11-9 to finish third in the tournament. Unity Ampang FC also walked away with RM1,000 in cash and RM1,000 worth of PUMA products.
Azrin Adnan from Brabus United was adjudged the PUMA evoPOWER Futsal tournament best player while Mohd Nazreen of Ampang Unity FC scored the most powerful goal, the ball travelling at 97km an hour against Orange FC.
