Young pair oozing confidence ahead of Malaysia Open 2019
KUALA LUMPUR (21 March 2019): After their impressive run to reach the 2019 All England final, it is evident that young national men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik are destined for big things.
Agreeing that their heroics at the All England Championship is a stepping stone to better things, Aaron-Wooi Yik are looking to up the ante and have set their sights on winning the men’s doubles title at the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open 2019.
“Wooi Yik and I hope to continue our positive performances in the Malaysia Open 2019 and will banking on our consistency,” said Aaron.
Aaron recognises that his partner and himself will have to be at their fighting best from the start if they hope to land the title as they will have to take on and beat some of the world’s best men’s doubles pairs.
“We have received a fairly difficult draw as we may have to face Japan’s Hiroyuki Endo-Yuta Watanabe in the second round. The tough run is expected to continue after the quarter-finals if we make it that far”, Aaron admitted.
“If it’s possible, I would like for us to reach the last four, but the ultimate goal is for us to go all the way and clinch the title, especially on home soil,” added a hopeful Aaron.
Aaron-Wooi Yik are scheduled to open their campaign against Marcus Ellis-Chris Langridge and if they beat the English pair, a possible second round showdown against fourth seeds and last edition’s runners-up, Hiroyuki Endo-Yuta Watanabe or another Japanese pair in the form of Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi awaits them.
