TWO DIVISIONS FOR LIGA 1MCC-HONG LEONG YAMAHA UNDER-14

KUALA LUMPUR (21 APRIL 2013): Following the success of the Liga 1MCC-Hong Leong Yamaha Under-14 last year, the 2013 edition will see the introduction of Division 1 and Division 2 leagues .

The promotion and relegation mechanism for the Liga 1MCC-Hong Leong Yamaha Under-14, which kicks off on May 11, will take effect with the bottom two teams from Division One relegated to Division Two while the Champion and Runners-up in Division Two will gain promotion. 

1MCC’s Gobi Nair, who is the League’s Competitions Director, said there will be a maximum of 15 teams competing in each division of the league and the two-tier division will allow teams to compete on a level playing field, with everyone having an equal chance.

“Last year, we saw the fancied teams winning by a big margin over their opponents. They simply rolled over them with ease. With the introduction of the two-tier division, this imbalance has been rectified and we hope to see a much more competitive league,” said Gobi, after the Team Managers’ Meeting for the upcoming Liga 1MCC-Hong Leong Yamaha 2013. The meeting was held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Club, Kuala Lumpur. 

CIMB-Youth Football Academy defeated PKNS FC 2-1 in last year’s final while Permata Lestari finished in third position.

The Liga 1MCC has drawn much interest nationwide and has now been expanded to meet the growing demand from other states for the 2013 season. In October last year, the league expanded from the Klang Valley to include Malacca, Johor (South Zone) and Penang (North Zone).

Though Johor, Malacca and Penang will host their respective Under-12 and Under-14 leagues, 1MCC is further expanding the league so that by May, teams in Pahang and Sabah can now enjoy the opportunity of playing in the same age-group leagues there.

Apart from vying the Challenge Trophy, the champions of the Liga 1MCC Under-14 Division One and Two will also stand to win attractive prizes. Division One champions will receive RM6,000 in cash and kind , runners-up RM3, 500 in cash and kind while the semi-finalists will go home with RM1,000 each in cash and kind, and, quarterfinalist will receive RM500 worth of voucher each.

An RM4, 000 in cash and kind also await the Division Two champion, RM2, 000 in cash and kind to the runners-up, RM500 to both semifinalists, and, RM300 vouchers to each of the four quarterfinalists.

The League will also be a base for the selection of players for the 5th Yamaha ASEAN Cup Under-13 Tournament in Vietnam. The tournament rules require each team to register a total of 20 players, which include five players aged 13. Three out these five players must play for the team in every league match and can only be substituted with another 13-year-old player.

Division One Teams – Akademi Bolasepak MBPJ, CIMB-YFA Bintang Muda, Jasmine Junior FC, Kelab  Bolasepak Tunas Lagenda, Kelab Bolasepak Remaja Puchong, Mahkota Football Academy, Perkasa FC, Permata-MBSA, PKNS FC, PNSB FC, Ulu Klang Recreational Club, Semenyih Putra United, MBJ United, Royal Selangor Club and Blues Football Club.

Division Two Teams – Astaka FC Japan, Gallagher Young Boys Puchong, Gen Pro, KB Remaja Harimau KLang, Kelab Bolasepak Anak Kalumpang, Kelab Bolasepak Nadi Dahlia, Kido Kickers Academy, My Kids Soccer, Ombak FC, Permai FC, PFKA Batu Caves, Proficient  FA Football, Red Giant Kids and Teluki Juniors FC.
