KUALA LUMPUR (5 JULY 2019): AHP-MSSP Thunderbolts edged out Anderson Thunderbolts 1-0 at Wisma Belia yesterday to stay in the hunt for the Malaysian Junior Hockey League (MJHL) 2019 title.
Mohamad Hazim Mohd Ahir’s solitary goal through a penalty corner conversion in the 11th minute was enough for ASP-MSSP to keep pace with table toppers, SSTMI Thunderbolts.
SSTMI again showed that it was head and shoulders above the rest when it went on a record breaking goal scoring spree, thrashing BJSS Jr 2022, 14-1 at SSTMI.
Captain, Muhammad Amirul Hamizan Azhar led the way, opening the scoring as early as the first minute through a penalty corner, eventually ending up with four goals.
Mohamad Shamir Rizmi Mohd Shamsul was the next best performer with a hattrick with BJSS Jr’s consolation goal scored by Mohd Danial Ikmal Mohd Yisnizam in the 18th minute.
SSTMI are now sitting pretty at the top with 21 points and a +40 goal difference followed by AHP-MSSP with 18 points but having played a game less. They still have a lot of catching up to do as they currently have a +16 goal difference.
Following suit are BJSS Thunderbolts in third after edging out SSMS Resilient, 2-1 with the winning goal contributed by Muhd Adam Daniel Ferozs, five minutes from time.
Rounding off yesterday’s fixtures, MSSPP-PSHA were on the end of a 1-11 trashing at the hands of MBPJ Tigers, MSN/SSN/ PHPs Young Lion won 5-2 over Sabah Jr (PHS/SHA-SSMS), SSTI Juniors edged out MSNT-PHT-MSST 1-1 while KL Wipers drew 1-1 against SMKDBL-Unikl-PHJ-MSNJ.
The match between KL Wipers and SMKDBL had to be abandoned in the second quarter due to bad weather with the current score at 1-1 being taken into account.
Meanwhile, in the women’s section, MBPJ Black Widow continued their good form when they thrashed SSP-MSP PKS Uniten, 5-1 to lead the table with nine points from three matches.
SSTMI-PKS Uniten kept pace with MBPJ after winning 2-1 against Mutiara Impian-MSSPP-PSHA to trail three points behind.
The other fixtures saw KL Wipers-KLSS win 3-2 against MSNT-PHT-MSST while Zaba Girls lost 0-4 against Johor Girl-PHJ MSNJ.
