September 12, 2017SPORTSFIX, the new ASEAN Telco-OTT (Over-The-Top) live streaming sports platform has acquired the rights to broadcast Bangladesh Cricket Home Series matches.
The first big Home Series for Bangladesh is a Test Series against Australia, the first tour of the current No 3 ranked team to Bangladesh since 2006. The visitors are prepared for a hot wicket at the end of Bangladesh’s hot summer month. The First Test was schedule for August 27 while the Second Test kicked off on September 4.
Marcus Luer, executive chairman and founder of Sportsfix said: “We are thrilled to add Bangladesh Cricket to our line-up of top sports from across the region. There is a large Bangladesh community across South East Asia who are as passionate about their cricket team as anyone you have ever seen. At Sportsfix, we want to fuel that passion and bring ‘LIVE’ sports action to groups which have previously been forgotten by mainstream broadcasters. We know how to reach this audience through our Telco partnerships in the region.”
A.S.M. Rafiq Ullah, Chief Executive Officer of Content Matters Limited, the digital rights holder of BCB Home Matches, said: “We are delighted to bring Bangladesh cricket to our countrymen and cricket lovers living in South East Asia and will be looking forward to working closely with Sportsfix to deliver the best of Bangladesh cricket to the region. The Test Series against Australia has been in the making for many years and it’s finally happening. We can expect a hotly contested series by both teams. Valuable ICC Ranking points are on the line.”
Owned by SF Media Holdings Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Total Sports Asia (TSA), Sportsfix is the first and only LIVE and VOD sports content OTT platform in the ASEAN region.
The service, which was launched recently, delivers local, regional and international live, on-demand and news sports streams and works closely with telecommunication operators across the region to deliver the content directly to millions of mobile devices anytime and anywhere so everyone can watch their favourite sports.
In Malaysia, the Test Series will be part of Sportsfix’s offering through Celcom, in conjunction with the telco’s new product ‘ASIA PASS’ which is targeted towards Overseas Foreign Workers in the country. It offers a combination of IDD minutes, high-speed internet and domestic minutes. For more info, visit https://www.xpax.com.my/ asiapass/
“Sportsfix is combining content that no one is catering to right now, and we’re catering to it via the mobile phone, which is the device of the future,” said Luer.
The OTT platform will also stream live matches from Liga 1 Indonesia, Chinese Super League (CSL)), Thai Premier League, Korean football league K League Classic, Philippine Basketball League, Bangladesh Cricket and a range of mixed martial arts (MMA) leagues from around the world.
Luer added that Sportsfix is lining up a whole bunch of niche content – much like Netflix and iflix of sports – to cater to fans spread around the ASEAN region, whether a foreign worker or expat.
“If you’re a Japanese, German or Korean expat living in this part of the world, there’s a high chance that a lot of your country’s sports content is not available out here. Or if you are local or studied abroad, you would be exposed to sports from that part of the world,” Luer explained.
In tandem with the company’s tagline of ‘Your Daily Dose of Sports’, Sportsfix aims to deliver just that and popularise Sportsfix.tv as the go-to place for sports fans in the ASEAN region.
