KUALA LUMPUR (23 June 2018): National men’s doubles pair, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi are up for the challenge as they were drawn to face experienced Danish pair, Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen in the first round of the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open 2018 (CAMO2018).

Instead of worrying about their opponents, Yew Sin and Ee Yi are quietly confident of producing a possible upset victory over the current World No.2 ranked pair.

Ee Yi said, “Obviously it is not the easiest of tasks to overcome such an accomplished duo like them (Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen), who are also at the peak of their careers. However, I believe that we still have a 50-50 chance to muster up a win as only the result on the court matters.”

“Although we weren’t paired together for the Thomas Cup, Yew Sin and I are fully focused to continue improving our chemistry in the upcoming Malaysia Open and Indonesia Open right after,” added Ee Yi.
Ee Yi also hopes that by overcoming a top seeded pair like Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen in the early rounds can be the perfect morale booster for him and his doubles partner.

He said, “We plan to take each match as it comes, but a win against the Danes in the first round will definitely spur us on to perform with more confidence and progress further in the Malaysia Open”.
For the record, the last time Yew Sin and Ee Yi faced off against the Danish pair was in the 2016 Hong Kong Open which ended with a rubber sets win for the Europeans who are also silver medallists in the 2012 London Olympics.
