JOHOR, 29 November 2017 – The Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge (R.O.C) Race, the world’s largest inflatable obstacle, made waves as 7,000 participants successfully crossed the finish line during its first ever Asian edition at Forest City, Johor last Saturday.

Expectations were high for the first ever R.O.C. Race at the scenic and environment-friendly city and it did not disappoint as participants queued up for registration as early as 5.30am before making their way through the gigantic and unique obstacles.

As soon as the sun rose over Forest City – also known for its ample greenery, participants were released within waves of 30 minute intervals with the first flag-off at 7am all the way till 10am. The event was also graced by the presence of Chief Strategy Officer of Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd, Dr. Yu Runze and Head of Commercial Department, Mr. Eric Wu who flagged-off participants of the 8am wave.

Participants endured the most exciting and entertaining experience as they completed all 10 obstacles set along a 5km walk and run course before earning their finisher t-shirts and medals.

To cater to the needs of fitness freaks and obstacle enthusiasts, larger than life obstacles such as the infamous ‘Wrecking Balls’, the menacing ‘Sweeper’, the newly re-imagined ‘Jump Balls’ and an epic slide down ‘The Hippo’ – a towering four-storey high waterslide were featured during the event.

“Participants were enthralled by the amazing atmosphere at this city and we are extremely proud to have hosted the first R.O.C. Race in Asia. We look forward to being the host again next year and by then hopefully participants will be able to enjoy a greater view at this city with its upcoming developments,” said Dr. Yu Runze.

With the Malaysia Major Events, a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia (MoTAC) pledging its support, the R.O.C. Race has grown by leaps and bounds since its first edition in 2011 and will head to Sepang next year on June 30.

“We had lots of fun in Forest City and we are glad that the 7,000 participants at the event had a wonderful time which I’m sure they will cherish and take it back home with them. Up next will be Sepang on 30th June 2018 and I hope we can build on this momentum and reach greater heights,” said David Wright, co-founder of R.O.C.

46 year-old Ludo from France, who currently teaches at a French international school in Singapore, highlighted his awesome experience participating in his first ever R.O.C Race and completing all the obstacles.

“I had a lot of fun today with my wife as we completed all the obstacles and it took us about 60 minutes before crossing the finish line. My pick out of the bunch would have to be ‘The Hippo’ obstacle as it was fun sliding all the way down from a high altitude,” said the discipline teacher by profession.

The R.O.C. Race participation is open for those aged 10 and above as participants are also free to choose their preferred flag-off station with some mouth-watering packages to choose to slip and slide from.
