Kuala Lumpur (February 15, 2014) – The much anticipated revolutionary new PUMA evoPOWER football boots was introduced today at Sports Planet Subang Grand, Sunway.
At the launch, members of the media were also entertained to exciting matches involving PUMA Friends, Berita Harian, and the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) on the sideline of the first of four PUMA evoPOWER futsal tournament qualifying rounds.
It was certainly a moment to cherish for members of the media in their PUMA evoPOWER high performance football boots. Joining them were five PUMA-sponsored Felda United players. SAM Power defeated SAM evo 4-1 in the final.
The theme of the futsal tournament was ‘helping you score with more power.’ And to check their prowess with the new boots, speed detectors placed at goal lines will measure the speed of the ball as it crosses the line and more points will be awarded for more powerful shots for goals scored. One point is awarded for every goal scored below the speed of 50 Km/h, two points awarded for a goal scored if the ball travels at a speed of 50 Km/h – 90 Km/h while three points for a goal scored if the ball travels at a speed of 90km/h and above.
“The evoPOWER boots comes with a complete package. It gives the players a fresh coat of confidence when they kick the ball with precise accuracy and speed. A player may not have to put too much force into it and yet the ball stays in line and travels at a faster speed,” said PUMA head of Marketing, Gabriel Yap.
Launched in line with PUMA’s Nature of Believing campaign, the evoPOWER boots also received the thumbs up sign from PUMA-sponsored Johor Darul Takzim (JDT 1) player Fadhli Shas, Perak Midfielder Nasir Basharudin, Kelantan and national goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi.
Speed, power and accuracy – the strength of the revolutionised evoPOWER boots, has changed the trademark of the game. The three PUMA-sponsored players have been going great guns in the ongoing Super League since turning on the power with the new evoPOWER boots.
The evoPOWER is a new performance boot designed to enhance a player’s natural kicking ability, and optimise a player’s power and accuracy when striking the ball. Inspired by the power generated from the freedom of barefoot kicking, evoPOWER features the most advanced PUMA footwear technologies to date in its football category.
Fadhli Shas, who just recently turned 24, acknowledged going through a new experience since playing with the evoPOWER boots: “I have been playing with PUMA boots for quite some time but it’s a new feeling with the evoPOWER boots. I certainly run faster with the ball. The ball also travels at a faster speed and with better control. I am truly enjoying my game with this new experience.”
Midfielder Nasir says he is blessed to put on the evoPOWER boots. “As a midfielder, I feel very light when running on the field. It’s a new feeling altogether. The boot is designed to enable players to run at full speed while maintaining stability.”
Goalkeeper Khairul, a.k.a Apek, says: “It gives me better momentum on the field. I move faster, kick the ball further and I am also able to get into position faster. The PUMA evoPOWER boots is definitely good for my confidence. I have never experienced anything like this before.”
